Welcome to KCSSC Kolkata!

Founded on 15th August 1957, the Kerala Catholic Social Service Centre is a vibrant socio-cultural organization of the Catholic Malayalees of Kolkata. Initially, it began as a Club with Mr. K.P. Thomas being the founding President and Mr. K.J. John -the founding Secretary. This 16 member club operated out of No.75, Park Street, Kolkata. The Club was registered under West Bengal Societies Act in 1973. In the year 1982, the Club was re-christened as the Kerala Catholic Social Service Centre. Its current office is at Sacred Heart Church, 3 Lenin Sarani, Kolkata– 700013. Today, KCSSC has a membership of more than 600 families spread across the globe.

An Appeal...

The Centre appeals to the society at large to support it financially so that it may increase the services for our less fortunate brethren. The Centre gets Income Tax exemption under Section 12 A of the Income Tax Act 1961, and as such people can avail of Income Tax Relief on donations given to the Centre. The Centre maintains its financial year from April to March and gets its accounts audited regularly.

Spiritual Guidance

  • The first Patron of the Centre was Most Rev. Albert V D’Souza. In 1969, Cardinal Picachy took over. On retirement of Cardinal Picachy, Most Rev. Henry D’Souza took charge in 1980 and continued till 2002. In 1973, Rev. Fr. P.C. Mathew S.J. became the spiritual Advisor of the Centre - a post he held until the year 1987 when he was appointed as the Provincial Superior of Calcutta Jesuits. Read more
